Certified
At K12 Coalition, our mission is
to be a trusted partner that stands alongside school leadership in order to achieve positive impact, reignite joy in the classroom and prepare educators for a career filled with successful growth.
What is a B Corp?
A B Corp certification is a third-party standard by global nonprofit B Labs, requiring companies to meet rigorous social sustainability, environmental performance, employee welfare, and accountability standards, and to be transparent to the public on how they are assessed. By meeting these demanding standards, K12 Coalition joins a growing global movement of companies using business as a force for good.
What is the significance of B Corp certification?
B Corp certification enables for-profit companies to showcase their dedication to social and environmental responsibility, emphasizing accountability to all stakeholders, not just shareholders. The requirement for recertification every three years ensures B Corps maintain a focus on continuous improvement, enhancing their long-term resilience.
K12 Coalition’s B Corp certification is a welcome recognition of our commitment to both internal and external impact. It reinforces our belief that every day is an opportunity to make a difference, not just in our work, but in the lives of education leaders, teachers, and students.
How do you get certified as a B Corp?
B Corp certification involves a rigorous evaluation of how a company’s operations impact its workers, community, environment, and customers. This thorough process requires detailed responses on aspects such as internal governance, diversity, employee benefits, data handling, supply chain practices, and more. Companies need a minimum score of 80 out of 200 points to attain certification. Achieving B Corp status involves months of meticulous documentation and data reporting, scrutinized by a B Lab analyst.
Throughout the review, the analyst verifies provided information and may suggest improvements or seek clarifications. Upon successful verification and a score of 80 or higher, the company earns B Corp certification. Presently, there are 6,700 certified B Corporations spanning 90 countries and 160 industries.
Joining the B Corp movement
B Corp certification is an important milestone that reaffirms K12 Coalition’s commitment to its mission and values. We’re proud to join a community of organizations that are committed to positive change and are passionate advocates for impact-focused standards.
K12 Coalition’s vision to provide resources and support to school leaders, teachers, and students strongly aligns with the principles of the B Corp movement. The B Corp movement recognizes the challenges posed by the current economic system, which often results in social and economic inequality, and a decline in individual well-being.
