During this year’s MEA Conference — a marquee learning weekend for Minnesota educators — more than 700 teachers explored how to use artificial intelligence (AI) with intention and integrity in the classroom. K12 Coalition’s Marcee Harris, VP of Academics at Teaching Channel, took center stage with two packed sessions aimed at helping teachers lead the charge, not chase the trend.
Marcee’s sessions, “Your AI, Your Way” and “Awesome AI-Powered Projects for Elementary Learners,” gave educators hands-on tools to create custom GPTs and build early AI literacy with students. She emphasized that AI should be used to enhance — not replace — teacher judgment, and shared examples of how it can streamline planning, prep, and differentiated support.
The segment also highlighted early findings from Winona State University showing that while 80% of local educators are using AI, less than a third feel confident in how to use it well. Marcee’s sessions helped close that gap, giving educators a practical and safe entry point — with student learning at the center.
